Using masks is an important part of facial treatment. Masks are classified into two different categories: warm or cold. A good mask has the qualities:

- The mask must be safe for use and non-toxic.

- The mask should be smooth, contain no gritty particles and be easily spreadable on the face.

- The mask should easily be removable with cotton, sponges, and tepid water. When using peeling type mask, it must be peeled off from the face without causing discomfort to the client.

- The mask should be formulated with ingredients that provide a toning and tightening sensation.
